Bluegrass MMA made the short trip east to D Ray's Montana Grille in Ashland, Kentucky to provide you, the fans, coverage of Spartan Fighting Championship 8 - Onslaught Weigh In's. The atmosphere was great as fighters and their teams rolled in. Owner / Promoter Terry Callihan was all over the place talking to fighters and fans. A local radio station was covering the weigh ins live on-air. The Main Event Saturday night features a 2-0 Bellator veteran Lamont Stafford. Stafford is 6'6'' and weighed in at 202.6. He is a very vertical athlete with a large reach. He is matched up against local MMA fighter Jason Butcher. Butcher weighed in at 206 and looked to be in very good shape. It should be a good night for the fans in Eastern Kentucky.

Fight Week Recap

It has been a hectic week here at Bluegrass MMA. We had three great episodes of Bluegrass MMA Live and we want to thank the hundreds of people for listening, downloading and supporting us as we venture into the Internet radio scene. Of course an action packed weekend that begins tonight for us. Join Bluegrass MMA at D Rays Montana Grille on Greenup Ave in Ashland Kentucky as we make the trip east to witness the Spartan Fighting Championship put on their weigh ins for SFC -8 Onslaught which takes place tomorrow night at the National Guard Armory in Ashland, KY. Terry Callihan and crew no doubt have been extra busy this week preparing for the biggest Spartan show to date. We want to give our thanks to him and his team at Spartan Fighting Championship. We will be covering all the action there tomorrow night.

Intimidation Clothing Building Strong Foundation with Kentucky MMA

Intimidation Clothing is pleased to announce their sponsorship of Light Heavyweight prospect Jason Butcher at Saturday’s Spartan Fighting Championship 8. Butcher (1-0) will take on Lamont Stafford (2-0) in the night’s main event.

After a 6-2 amateur MMA career that saw his final five amateur fights come for the NAAFS promotion in Columbus and Cleveland, Ohio, Butcher made a successful pro debut for the Spartan FC promotion in February 2011. In that fight Butcher scored a KO 45 seconds into round 1 over Dominique Steele in Ashland, Kentucky, just 15 miles from his home base in Huntington, West Virginia. The fight will mark the third time that Intimidation Clothing has worked with Butcher.

Spartan Fighting Championship 8 takes place on Saturday, May 21st at the National Guard Armory in Ashland, Kentucky, and features two professional fights, five title fights and 15 total fights.

Another show in the books and this one is great. Listen to Absolute Action fighters Josh Foster and Female Champ Jessamyn "The Gun" Duke.  Huge night of bouts lined up Saturday May 7th at the Midwest Sports Complex in Florence.

Intimidation Clothing Supporting Kentucky MMA This Weekend

Another busy weekend is scheduled for the Intimidation Clothing team to start May. Coming off a record-breaking April, that easily bested their record March, the Intimidation brand is making waves throughout the Midwest working with MMA promotions, fighters and gyms from Minnesota, to Tennessee and up to Maine. April begins with Intimidation continuing to cement their place in the two states where they have the strongest presence, Ohio and Kentucky.

Saturday, May 7th will see the Intimidation Clothing brand as a featured sponsor of three major MMA promotions in Ohio and Kentucky. In their home state of Ohio, Intimidation will be working with Purgatory Championship Fighting for their pro/am MMA event in Toledo. In addition, Intimidation will have featherweight prospect Brett Ewing, who is 2-0 as a pro after a undefeated amateur career, sponsored at the Purgatory event. Intimidation will also have a booth at the event to sell their premium quality MMA apparel.
That same night Intimidation will be a featured event sponsor for the Absolute Action MMA promotion in Florence, Kentucky. In addition to their brand-building advertising at the event, Intimidation will have grappler and MMA lightweight fighter most recently competed at the Intimidation-sponsored Ohio Grappling Challenge where he finished as the runner-up in the 16-man No-Gi Invitational in Medina, Ohio. The 19-year old MMA amateur will return to MMA action at the AAMMA event on Saturday night. Intimidation and Absolute Action MMA have worked together once previously and have agreed to terms for Intimidation to sponsor five of the next six AAMMA events throughout the Spring/Summer of 2011.
Also on Saturday night, Intimidation will be on hand at Spartan Fighting Championship 8 in Ashland, Kentucky. In addition to sponsoring the event and selling t-shirts, MMA fight shorts, hats and more at the event, Intimidation will have light heavyweight Jason Butcher (pictured) in action in the night’s main event. Also sponsored at the event will be Intimidation Clothing’s favorite MMA cutman, David Maldonado.

Tonight Bluegrass MMA got a chance to speak with the owner and promoter of Spartan Fighting Championship Terry Callihan.

Terry took time out of his busy schedule to talk with us about his upcoming show SFC 8 - Onslaught. There is a large following of supporters for this event and tickets are selling fast. The night features high level local talent with several SFC Titles on the line. The Main Event is Jason Butcher vs Lamont Stafford and promises to be a great fight. VIP table and VIP ticket holders are in for an extra treat as Terry told us of the VIP showing of the Kentucky Derby as well as past SFC events.
