Holy mother of all things MMA. We have been out of commision for a week. It seems that a bad ass strain of the flu got me down. I was able to watch alot of old MMA action, watch possibly one of the greatest fights in UFC history take place in MY STATE and then as i started feeling better was able to multi task watching both Bellator and Strikeforce Saturday night. Did very little on the Twitter account and of course no blogs since UFC a week ago. However I am back at about 80% strength and ready to start the week off right. Lets recap the week that was MMA.
Thursday Night - UFC on Versus 3
The Bluegrass State came out almost 9000 strong to watch what in my opinion will go down as one of the greatest fights in UFC history. Diego Sanchez and Martin Kampmann threw down like it was do or die time. This was 15 minutes of brutal action. What else would you expect from a Diego Sanchez bout? He put it all out on the line and got the decision. Should he have won? Maybe. A draw? I hate those. Dana White was quoted as saying that Kampmann may have a loss in the column but no one was a loser in the main event of the evening. Hats off for both guys for slugging it out and not pussying around like some of these fights can go. The rest of the card was no let down either as Mark Munoz put a quick finish to C.B. Dolloway's night with a knockout for the highlight reels. Brian Bowles locks in the choke to finish Damcio Page for another great finale. This card was better than the last ppv no doubt.
Saturday Night - Bellator 35
Gotta admit, this was a fine show indeed. MTV2 did a fairly good job with the presentation but it was all on the fighters this night. The welterweight tourney kicked off with 4 outstanding brawls. Up and comer Rick Hawn was looking impressive with his win and so was Brent Weedman. The winners banked 20k for the fight. Not too shabby.
Strikeforce - Feijao vs Henderson
I was so pissed when Hendo left UFC while on a roll. He gets over to Strikeforce and gets dominated for 4 rounds on his back by Jake Shields.. I wrote him off. However the 40 year old brawler did impress me with his win and the taking of the Light Heavyweight belt. TKO by way of punching the hell out of Rafeal Cavalcante. Shout out to Jorge Gurgel for getting back in the win column and always good to see Tim Kennedy get a win although he could stand to fight a higher caliber opponent.
There it is. Quick and to the point. Big Dump Daddy is glad to be back in the blog. I am feeling much better. Hope all our readers and followers have a solid week.
