Its Not in the Bluegrass But Here is Our UFC 129 Predictions

We are dedicated to Kentucky MMA. No doubt about that. However from time to time we have to pay our respects to those that have paved the way for Bluegrass fighters and fight companies to even be relevant. UFC 129 may be one of the biggest shows in UFC history. 55,000 tickets sold for an event of any type is enough to draw mass attention in the media but for this to be an MMA fight is unprecedented. The UFC was purchased by Zuffa for $2 million and the gate alone for this show is $11 million. This should be a great card too. GSP has been downplaying Jake Shields' underdog status. Randy Couture's retirement match versus Lyoto Machida should be a great battle. Jason "The Athlete" McDonald versus Ryan Jensen will be a war as well!

So here Big Dump Daddy's main card predictions, short and sweet.

Mark Bocek vs Ben Henderson -  Henderson via submission

Randy Couture vs Lyoto Machida - Couture win a unanimous decision

Vladimir Matyshenko vs Jason Brilz-  Brilz wins via KO

Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo vs Mark Hominick -  Aldo wins via KO

Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre vs Jake Shields - GSP wins via TKO

Main Event - Jason McDonald vs Ryan Jensen - McDonald wins via submission and title shot at Anderson Silva

Ok I may have fudged on the Main Event but by far one of my favorite fighters of all time is "The Athlete". McDonald is a warrior who has fought to 3 Submission of the Night and 1 KO of the Night bonuses.

There you have it. My picks on one of the biggest shows in MMA history.

Exciting times going on at Bluegrass MMA. Our little radio show is starting to catch on and emails are flooding in with requests for interviews. Its very flattering to have people think of us when it comes to getting exposure in the media. Our pride and joy, what your looking at right now, BlugrassMMA.com is getting a steady flow of hits daily. For all of this we say thank you. Thank you to the MMA companies that allow us to come and cover the shows, thank you to the fighters who allow us to chat with them, thank you to the local gyms for showing interest in what we do and thank you to the sponsors who are supporting the industry. Thank you to the fans for listening to our show over 300 times. If there were no audience for us we would have been extinct as soon as we started.

With all this being said we are looking to raise the bar. How we do that is still be determined but we are dedicated to bringing Kentucky MMA into the forefront and getting as much attention as we can bring. We can't do this without the continued support from everyone in the MMA community and so far that support has been overwhelming.

UNICA MMA - Morehead Kentucky

Bluegrass MMA got a chance to get out and visit with a great local MMA gym right in the middle of our hometown. The gym is under the direction of a Carlson Gracie Jr / Mike O'Donnell Brown Belt in Brazilian Ju-Jitsu Steve Armentrout. UNICA MMA is on Main Street in the heart of Morehead. Twelve guys were in the gym and were working on their BJJ. Some of the guys are MMA fighters and some were there to just learn.

A short while into the session it was clear that these guys had a good grasp of what was going on and there was very little instruction but more practicing of the art. Everyone was on the mat working hard and it didn't take long for the sweat to start pouring. Steve got on the mat and was showing some technique and how it applied to the fundamentals that he had obviously taught them.
