Greg Maynard in Action
Greg Maynard of Gruesome MMA is the real deal when it comes to strapping it up and getting in the cage. He is on the other side of the business this week at "The Homecoming Show" in Pikeville. Here is a clip courtesy of Spartan Fighting Championship's YouTube page showcasing Greg and his skill set.
Absolute Action MMA inks deal with Wazoo Sports
Breaking news from the overnight. On Cage Passion Radio Vice President of Operations for Absolute Action Billy Donovan made a big announcement that has a deep impact in the field of Mixed Martial Arts coverage for Kentucky. Starting with the June 18th fight card you can not only watch AAMMA shows on gofightlive.com but you will be able to watch them on cable station Wazoo Sports, an affiliate of NBC. The owner of AAMMA Dr. Parag Patel, M.D. said " This has happened faster than I expected , however, we are ready for the opportunity and will be looking forward to showcase some fantastic match-ups and talent."
As mentioned June 18th is the date to set your DVR's or plan a fight party if you are unable to make it to Florence to catch the show live. The deal will broadcast the event live and also includes 3 rebroadcasts over a 30 day period as well as On Demand access.
This deal is being announced just after AAMMA XII - The Anniversary Show. That show marked a year's worth of quality local amateur fights as well as some professional bouts. Dr. Patel said it best when he speaks of how fast this has happened. Mixed Martial Arts fans are growing exponentially and its apparent that television outlets want a shot to get in on the action. This is exciting news not only for Absolute Action fans but for promotions across the state. This could be used as a great model of how to build your franchise. Absolute Action has a solid blueprint on how to take care of its fighters and fans. The hard work seems to be paying off and we offer our sincere congratulations to Dr. Patel and V.P. Donovan in all their future endeavors.

Gruesome MMA's Matchmaker - Greg Maynard
Monday night is here. The first day of the work week is over. For the man I am about to introduce you to this is the last Monday before he gets to display his matchmaking talents and love for MMA to the Bluegrass State. Eastern Kentucky we here at BGMMA are putting you on notice. We make the trip eastward to cover Gruesome MMA - The Homecoming. This event is at Pikeville College Gym Friday night and its another stacked Kentucky show. UFC, Strikeforce and King of The Cage vets makeup a card that will bring pleasure to the fans that crave a good time in the mountains.
Greg Maynard is no stranger to the Kentucky MMA scene. This guy has been training and fighting here for a while now. He has worked his way through the amateur ranks and was slated to be on the March 5th Strikeforce card but had to pull out due to a torn bicep. He has jumped in to help Brandon Newsome with the Gruesome MMA show and took some time to answer a few of our questions....

Introducing...GRUESOME MMA
Its Sunday night and we are kicking off yet another fight week. Yes ladies and gentleman this is week 3 that we have been lucky enough to be able to introduce you to another Kentucky promotion. This week we spotlight Gruesome MMA. Gruesome is hosting a show Friday April 8th in Pikeville, Kentucky at the Pikeville College Gym. Stacked card is in tow with this bunch including Strikeforce and UFC vets. Keep it locked in here to stay on top of all things Gruesome MMA this week. Hopefully we kick things off with an exclusive interview with a great fighter and matchmaker Greg Maynard. Stay tuned.
Absolute Action MMA Re-cap and Highlights
First and foremost we would like to take this opportunity to thank the crew at Absolute Action MMA for putting on an excellent show. Vice President of Operations Billy Donovan put together some great fights and Dr. Patel was very welcoming. For those of you who have never witnessed a live MMA show let us be the first to tell you that it is like nothing you have experienced before. From top to bottom an entertaining sports event that rivals most live performances that are out there. Absolute Action puts on a show that will leave you wanting more, wanting just one more fight and just one more chance to take in the sights & sounds of live fighting. You can tell the amount of hard work put into the creation and execution of the event. Our hats go off to all those involved and you can count on Bluegrass MMA being a fixture at AAMMA events in the future.
