UFC 132 Predictions

I love the UFC. It may not seem that way anymore because I am very much focused on whats going on in Kentucky but we all know without the UFC there would not be a market for MMA. Saturday's card excites me. I will not hide it, I am a huge Tito Ortiz fan. He may be nearing the end of his career but I still have faith in him. What a better way to spend the holiday weekend. Friends, family and a great UFC card.make for a great way to celebrate. Here are my picks for the main card of UFC 132.

Dennis Siver vs Matt Wiman - I really like this match up. Siver is always exciting and has knockout power. Wiman is on a roll with a three fight streak coming into the night. Siver is also riding a three fight win streak after an impressive win over George Sotiropoulos. Siver takes this one but it could be very close.

Carolos Condit vs Dong Hyun Kim- Other than a NC Kim is unbeaten in the UFC. He has ran through the mediocre talent in the welterweight division. Condit has beaten some contenders since his loss to Martin Kampmann in 2009. Another great fight with Condit taking the win and propelling him to fill the void of contenders at 170.

Tito Ortiz vs Ryan Bader-  Bader is tough. He is hungry for a win after losing to Jon Jones. Ortiz is tough and is starving not only for a win but another chance to fight past Saturday night. Ortiz has had some personal issues and has been on a losing streak. Bader is a rising star but not on this night. Ortiz wins and secures at least another fight plus his place in history as one of the greats.

Wanderlei Silva vs Chris Leben - This is main event quality. Leben is so exciting but so unpredictable. Wanderlei is on the down slope of his career. Both are powerful forces and the stand up in this fight will be amazing. You can never count Leben out, ever. This fight should go to Silva in Knockout fashion.

MAIN EVENT
Urijah Faber vs Dominick Cruz
UFC Bantamweight Championship

Bad blood or are these guys frenemys? I will admit I wasn't a big WEC watcher but enjoy this weightclass. Faber has defeated Cruz but it was his last loss since 2007. Cruz has had no problem running throught the competition. After watching his fight with Eddie Wineland I suspect he will have no problem with Faber. Dominick Cruz retains his title and hopefully finishes this fight in exciting fashion.

Former Absolute Action Female Champ Sarah Cook to Headline First Female Amateur Contest in Florida

Sarah Cook
Sarah Cook is no stranger to the cage. She is a veteran of the Absolute Action MMA hexagon and former AAMMA Female Champion. Cook is taking her talents south and will be a part of history as she headlines the first female amateur contest in Florida. Cook is competing for Breakthrough MMA on their  first ever show "Proving Ground" which takes place July 1st in Daytona Beach, Florida. Cook is looking to get back in the win column after being submitted by Evva Johnson in a very gritty performance. Sarah is a tough girl with great potential.

Breakthrough MMA is a "sister" promotion of Absolute Action and they are making their debut. It is very exciting to see Sarah on the card knowing what she can accomplish and what she represents. You will also be able to check out Cook on Absolute Action MMA XVI on July 16th in Florence. If your interested in helping sponsor Sarah Cook please contact billydonovan@aamma.net

My Take and Predictions For UFC on Versus 4

Believe it or not last night there was not a fight for me to be at, no work to be done and I enjoyed a night with friends & family. Its good from time to time to get a break. I wonder if the UFC thinks about those kinds of things. Any chance to watch UFC is great but with the roster of fighters Zuffa has cards like UFC on Versus 4 is just not neccesary. That is no disrespect for any of the fighters on the card. I enjoy watching Matt Mitrione fight. When Joe "Daddy" Stevenson was in his prime there was not a more exciting guy. However the lineup for this show could have easily been scattered through the next 2 or 3 bigger events. I feel like this is just an excuse for the UFC to make some money and put on some mediocre fights. If they are using these shows as building blocks for guys or a last chance win or go home stage for others I see it as a bad move. That's just my own opinion because lets face it, the UFC puts on some duds for shows from time to time. It happens. With Nate Marquardt out and fired from the organization the main event is now Pat Barry and Cheick Kongo. Decent fighters in their own right. Barry seems to be a nice guy and Kongo has the threat of  being a good fighter but really? Rick Story was robbed of a shining moment, the only moment I was looking forward to on this card. I will probably still watch and honestly will still enjoy a couple of the fights but I am just not excited about the event in general. Who will win? Well here are my thoughts.
