AAMMA XVII - STACKED

New venue, different look but same quality. Absolute Action MMA returned to Florence Kentucky Saturday night with a huge fight card that proved to the whole region why Absolute Action MMA is the elite promotion in the Northern Kentucky / Cincinnati area. Sports of All Sorts played host to AAMMA XVII - Stacked and stacked it was. Sixteen fights took place in a display of great athleticism and grit as we saw titles won and contenders emerge. The fans flocked to the new venue and at times it was hard to hear the announcer. The UFC's Shemar Bailey was in the house cornering his brother Jared Bailey as he made his MMA debut. The fans and fighters both walked away with what they came for, a great night of fights.

Knockout of The Night
Matt Bell

In the main event of the evening Matt Bell representing Team AFS was matched with Ryan Debelak in a fight for the AAMMA Light Heavyweight Title. From cage side the first round went to Debelak. Not so much in the second as Bell came out looking to finish the fight. That's just what happened as Bell got position and punched his way to a victory and a new shiny belt. The referee had to stop the fight because Bell raining punches to the cranium of Debelak. Bell improves to 3-0 with the win.

Submission of the Night
Andrew Fogg

Fogg , representing Reaction MMA, came into the night already a champion. At 6-0 and the current Hard Rock MMA Heavyweight champ Fogg looked to strap another belt on as he faced Josh Franklin. Franklin was no push over and the first two rounds were solid action. In the third Fogg was able to lock in a nice arm bar. Frankin tapped and Fogg was crowned champion. (Reaction MMA went 2-0 on the night)

Fight of the Night
Deric Reese vs Peter VanZijl

In a battle for a shot at the welterweight crown Deric Reese and Peter VanZijl had motivation to come out and perform. VanZijl has been out of action for awhile but was making his return against the always scrappy Reese. The first couple of rounds were very tough. Peter tried to utilize his kicks. Reese however had that look. He wanted to shake off his three fight losing streak and used his fists to get it done. Reese's striking rocked VanZijl and as the second round came to a close the fight was over. Reese wins the fight and a shot at the title.
